Recurrent issues:
1. I'm too confucian in my thinking. 2. So if I'm not going to Americanise my way of thinking, then i should suffer my fate and not complain. 3. If u want to break out of the viscious job cycle, then spend on vanity.
Re1. If everyone gives up values, then this world is decadent.Everyone will be ur enemy.Mankind has no conscience. Bare min expectations of respect & responsibility should not be compromised. E.g Ms X says "wow, you're taking classes yet can be punctual at work. That's amazing. I nver was able to do it." (FYI,MS X has been late for work at least 2-3 days out of 5 per wk) My POV - not responsible. Who cares what u do in ur personal time, if u've got to take a call at 9am,u jolly well be at the call at 9am. then Ms X says "I've got a date today so got to leave early.Bye" (FYI,she was late in the morning) My pov - just coz u're newbie (i.e less work),its not a nice gesture to pack and go when ur boss and teammate is struggling still. No respect.
Re2. What is it by americanise? Always place self interest above your neighbours? Doesn't that mean everyone will only think of themselves and how can things get done that way? If the table is too heavy and no one wants to get dirty carrying it,the table will still be there and ur work gets stuck. (real life experience)American way can easily be = push it out of ur way => irresponsible
Re3. To spend on vanity like the girls on the streets = selling out. Cant convince myself to do that. k, having long hair and looking as girl as possible is already selling out.but to go further, i need to think about it.
Perhaps I'm still a naive 13yr old who believes that if I put in effort, I'll score 100marks. Adults always anyway so even if I put in 100%effort, I might only score 20marks. Not fair.
