Oops, that's a belated entry for you.
Bintan bintan...rustic but BORING plus EXPENSIVE.
A body scrub is like SGD130++ for 130mins, that equates to $1.20 per min. I'm sure i can scrub myself too. Food is expensive but no complains as its quality was quite good.
Baan Aryan, quite a famous Thai restaurant, just 5 mins walk from my chalet serves good food though it taste more Indo than thai.The ambience and the set up of the place is extremely classy. Dim light, wooden structures,tea lights, cushions,fabric lampshades, what else can you ask for? Simply nice and romantic. Kelong, the other highly recommended place, definitely lived up to its name. Nice view,nice food,very good service.
We arrived on a sunday and my first encounter with a beach infested with human beings (both tourists and locals)certainly gave me a scare. There were no fences nor security posts around our chalets so security issue was tip top on our mind. That aside, we had to walk 10 -15mins to get to the swimming pool and to non restaurant food. The distance is not very far but the fact that i had to walk across the entire stretch of beach, cut through another resort, onto the road, weave into a side road before i can get to the circumference of the pool, isnt at all an enticing idea.The inconvenience murdered our interest for a swim or for the jacuzzi.
The rooms were decent (though we both found it hard to justify the price). Its just a little better than the huts that i stay in when i dive (and the price is halved) so I was kind of disappointed as this resort was also highly recommended. Worse still, our bed collapsed in the middle of the night,jolting me out from dreamland. And instead of trying to settle us elsewhere, the maintenance fellas decided to start hammering in front of us. Oh well. I don't know why i din protest then.
What else to squirm about....oh yes! The bazaar. Good gracious, the entire area is about the size of our tpyical bedok's pasar malam but the stuff that's available is as good as the mama shop at the void deck (disclaimer: this is exaggerated). But anyhow, you get the point. Its pathetic. The seemingly exciting go cart circuit is less than the circumference of the 400m track in our stadium. And considering, we were there on a Monday, there's absolutely no one driving. So onwards we headed for bintan lagoon.
*jaw drop!* I love that place!For that place, the premuium that I'll have to pay for is much more justifiable! The list of amenities is comprehensive, 2 swimming pools, a beach thats alot more private,they've got paintball & laserquest (both of which we din manage to play coz no one else booked for it =( Anyhow, IF we ever return there, I want to stay at BLR!!!
