Thursday

I'm restless and I'm dazed.

Time for the great countdown to CNY, not that I particularly like CNY but c'mon, its 4days of holidays.

When I was in school (i mean uniform-clad school girl), I've always waited in anticipation for the PH and school holidays. Its the only time that I didn't need to wake up at 5-ish in the morning and lug exhausted body to the north and the east of this city. Its also the days when I didn't need to stick toothpicks to keep my eyes open. And of course, whatever that doesnt come by easily are more treasured. Holidays are basically sacred.

However, in uni, school is only part of your life and often, the schedule is within the control of one's finger (click only on the best time slots). So I'll plan for classes to start after 1pm and squeeze all classes to ensure the least study days. That essentially frees up most part of the weeek for other activities. And somehow, I loose that excitement and anticipation for holidays coz its meaningless. I mean, if I'm dreading to go to school, I'll just skip class and zap the notes thereafter. So no big deal.

Phases of life yea? So I moved on and started working. The binding agreement between my company and me restricts the amount of free time I have. And this indirectly fed that burning desire for holidays. Working personnels are constantly checking off the calendars (be it literally doing it or in the mind) to countdown to wkends or PH. And then run through their fingers over and over again to find a way to maximise their annual and medical leaves. Suddenly, the need to find time off becomes a strategic planning exercise.

Interesting. And the fact that I'm typing away on this is because I'm counting down the minutes to knocking off, counting the hours to the end of tomorrow, counting down the seconds for my breather routine.
