A couple of random thoughts
"Clothes maketh Man". How cruel this statement is. If you're judged only by the external packaging, then what's the worth of development/growth as a human being?
I once read somewhere that within this first few seconds of the interview, one's fate is decided. Whatever you deliver during the rest of the interview are pretty redundant. What you are is no longer as important as what you make people believe what you are.

"Ask and you'll be told". There's no fun in guessing especially when stakes are involved. Ask and tell. There's no shame in it.
RE thedepthsofshallowness: Its always good to be prudent. But there's nothing wrong for one to express appreciation and admiration for another person, be it a him or a her. Don't let chinese-ness be an excuse.
