Monday
Mei said "u two look and behave like a couple". I like the sound of this comment. Shameless, I know.
Anyway, heard about the vatican exhibition at ACM? well, i wanted to go but there's entrance fee so I decided against it. But thanks to Amy,she told me about the PJ party over the weekend. So a mass sms went out and before i knew it, amy has garnered a party of pple to go! Cool! the oois went, pearly went with her group of friends. Both groups i missed. Didn't manage to catch them. Din even met up with Amy. Len went too.I saw him in the auditorium at ten past two on sunday morning. I went with little fren and mei plus mei's sister (who's blossoming at age 21. seriously,i dun remember her being so pretty). Oh yes, and ww came to join us with her gh. Quite a turn out isnt it?
Back to the exhibit. Amy says I'd love it, but i didn't. On the contrary, I was a little disappointed. Its theme " journey of faith" : supposed to show how the religion was spread to lands far and wide and the role of Rome as the important pilgrimage site. Nah,I felt that its putting drips and drabs of the different aspects of catholicism together. Sarcophagus of devouts, engravings etc..yah, it tells how the strong foothold the religion had in the heart of the deceased, but that doesnt gel with the theme of the exhibition. Guido Reni's artpiece was probably one of my favorite, but I also cannot understand how that reaffirms the process of pilgrimage. Plus, other than knowing that Jerusaluem was in mid east thus hampering pilgrimage to the holy site, therefore leading to the rise of rome as the i call it 'replacement'. yeah, but how did rome grow with this journey of faith, why was the papacy established there? How did the papacy interact with the rest of the world? why were some popes more political than religious? Why Why Why?
I think i liked the exhibit on the ottoman empire better. at least i came out awed by the grandeur and lavishness of the rich empire. This one? I came out more confused than before.
I blame it on the lack of a guide and i blame it on the crowd. Museums should NEVER be crowded.
Other than this, i also caught "the 40-yr old virgin". its really a good laugh and i think its quite a down to earth production. I'm so glad its not some lame slapstick movie. So if u're looking for something light and have a good laugh, then go watch it.
