I am starting to agree with my predecesors that my company is a shithole but its precisely the flaws that makes it a really good training ground.
Take for example,my gm don't look quite highly of s'poreans and casually dismiss my suggestions. I don't mingle well with my new dept. Some people feels that i'm rootless and so are reluctant to entrust me with bigger responsibilities. But these are precisely things that i need to learn to react to and ideally, to turn the tides. I belive that respect is earned and not demanded, authority too. Hence my goal now is to rise above the situation.
Furthermore, the service industry is also a place where one meets all sorts of people. When customers are nice, everything's wonderful. But for me, the real challenge and excitement comes when they become difficult customers. Such people puts me to the test and brings out my inadequacy so blantantly, so painfully. Again, it takes occasions like these for me to grow and mature, for me to improve and strengthen myself.
At the end of the day, I might be in shithole, but this shithole is a nuturing place. Or at least i choose to believe so.
