Friday
Oh dear! I seem to be spending a lot of money on watching shows -theater and movies. I just spent another $8.50 on James Bond tonight, and am currently scouting for a good movie for tomorrow noon. I need a filler during my lonesome lunch break. Just one question, has anyone heard of the show "Mami Jarun"? Its only screened at Cathay Causeway Point but i absolutely cannot find anything on it. Not any critic not any synopsis. Can someone at least enlighten me on the origin of the show?
Anyhow, I'm going to share my afterthoughts of the Bond movie. Firstly, I'm quite worried that Brosnan is going to lose his charms. He looks very much older now, and seeing him flirt with young girls makes me sick. I've always know that he's old but this time round, he really looked haggard. I'm sad coz I really loved him. Besides that, I'm also quite disappointed over the hooha about Halle Berry. I didn't catch Swordfish so this is my first time seeing her. I expected someone more gorgeous than that. Other than her big boobs and good figure, her looks aren't attractive. No X-factor. Even the other girl, Frost looked plain. What has happened to Bond girls? The standard is plummeting.
The plot is the same, not much changes other than the finally successful capture of Bond at the start of the film. But its not at all convincing that Bond was kept in jail for 14months. The gadgets are also the same. Same impressive watches, cars and guns. Or maybe there are improvements to the gadgets but its made no sense to me. The bombing scenes are wonderfully done, as usual, and its puzzling how they blew up planes after planes. Doesn't it cost a bomb?
Despite all the cliches and flaws, I won't claim that it's a flop. I particularly enjoyed the witty verbal exchanges. One particular scene is at the diamond exhibition thing in iceland where Bond, Jinx and Frost were talking. Look out for that scene, its really funny, or rather corny. The other thing I like is the computer generated scenes at the start of the movie. I love the way the graphic metamorphose and the superimposition of various layers. I don't know how the scene and the music work to tie with the plot or show but its artisitc.
Alrights, that's that for my 'commentary'. Its showertime and then bedtime. Sigh, my dreaded weekend has arrived.
