Just came back from 'Singing in the Rain". Oh man, Don i.e Dale Pengelly is so gd looking! Del and i say he looks like Pierce Brosnan and Cheryl insist that he looks like Mel Gibson. Well, whichever way,u've got it, he's dashing. Yes,he's old, my guess- forties, but he's really charming. However, in comparison to the rest of the cast, i must admit that he's not that outstanding. Performance wise, Cosmo i.e Wayne Scott Kermond was definitely a much better actor. Looking at his profile, its no wonder he's so wonderful on stage. He's acrobat trained, he dances, he sings and he has humour. He's really enigmatic. Singing wise, I must agree with cheryl that Kathy i.e Pia Morley is the best. Plus she's so sweet, so small, so pretty. Last but not least is Lina lamont i.e. jackie love. oh dear, she's really irritating in the show. she does not talk, she shrieks! i totally hated her but after reading her profile *gasp* i changed my mind. she sang for Queen Elizabeth and prince phillips. That's how gd she is.....
The show was gd, much better than Miss Saigon. At least the cast sings better. It followed the movie quite tightly, not missing much scenes and the rain scene was re-enacted well. Err...but that also meant that pple like us who sat in the front rows were all drenched. All thanks to cheeky Don who purposely kicked more water on us. The lighting was gd, especially during the scene where don and kathy expressed their love. The sunset, the moonlight, the "breeze"...that was one of the most beautiful scene in the movie and thank god the show din spoil it. THere's much more than these but i need time to digest the visual treat. currently too stuffed to comment anymore.
